PRESTANDA
MODELCAR RACING

This site is only to be seen by them who enjoys modelcarracing with truescale cars!

After my first visit to Kiel;Germany back in 2002  with some of scaleracingbuddies from Stockholm I truly became a first class modelcarracing nut.

After the visit to Nortland 500 2003 there was a "show off" by the guys from the area that inspired me to get going with one of my dreams of building a copy of the local racing hero in the suburb Årsta just outside of Stockholm. Lennart "Årsta Lelle" Johansson was at that time driving a -69 Camaro Z28 partly build by Penske.

Here is a collage of what´s happening on my workbench here Solna just outside of Stockholm.

Me and some of my buddies are aiming for the The American Race Days in Hude 25 september.

Best Regards

One of many steps was to find out how to make the fenderflares. This is the gluing process of the precutted flares made of polystrerenesheets. Here you can see different layers from above, glued together with some filing and sanding in between to get the right shape.

The first layer of paint just to see how it turns out. I used Tamiya acrylic paints for this because it got a quite fast drying period. The first cuts of the front fender, the real cars flaring wasn´t the same in the front as in rear. This way to solve the problem wasn´t the brightest...

...in the end it was a little bit to brittle and had to get some reinforcements on the inside. First layer of paintcoating... and o my good.... some work is still to be done....

But never give up, the way many have seen it in Germany during the Northland 500 -04. The work with the man behind the wheel did get me some sleepless nights too. The head is from Q-models von Tripp 60´s era together whit the arms but legs and rest of the body comes from the scrapbox...

Here you can see the gigantic oilpressure warninglight that actually was on the real car, the original cars redligth was used as a factory warninglamp in some ways. The steeringwheel is from the Revellkit as well as the right seat. The Hurstshifter together with the roll bar comes from varius kits. The exstinguiser are fabricated from a modern Nascar with right type of -70`s valve constructed from polystyrenetubing and it all sits to tunnel with braces made out of tape used for constructing electronic sharts. The same material is used to construct the beltharness together with some photoetched beltfasternes.
The first testfit with the some what controversial paintjob on... ... because of the huge amount of masking there were som correction to be done, perhaps its to bad picture quality but believe me it took som time!
A little bit low, no clearence yet between wheels and fenders. The grill is done by scribing the kits grill from the inside, an old modelers trick that goes with most types of grills.
Rear wiew showing the fenderflaring and the white tail, still to be done is licenseplateholder that´s gonna hide the fuelcap. The car ran without bumpers, the original car on the picture behind.

The Camaro together with next projekt for TAC 2.5...
